MUN Breaks Records at First Conference of the Academic Year

At their first conference of the school year, Marymount’s nationally-ranked Model United Nations team took home a record number of awards for their work at the Santa Margarita Conference. Twenty-three Marymount students, or 64% of Marymount’s delegation, received 'Outstanding' Awards or Commendations.

On Saturday, September 27th, 36 Marymount students traveled to Santa Margarita for a day of diplomacy and educated, spirited debate on international issues at the 1200-delegate conference at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Orange County.

At the Novice level, Marymount represented five countries - Egypt, South Africa, United Kingdom, Bangladesh and North Korea (DPRK) - while the Advanced Delegates represented either Bolivia or Uruguay. The Marymount delegation set a new program record, earning 23 awards; the team's previous single-conference record was 15.
