Marymount kicks off the holiday season with an eye to giving back

As the days grow ever shorter, and we (finally) begin to feel a chill in the air, thoughts at Marymount turn to gratitude for our blessings - and giving back to the community.

Marymount is committed to living the mission our founding order, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. As we enter this holiday season, Marymount students, as well as their families, faculty and staff, drew upon our collective resources to help those in need over this holiday season and beyond.

Early on a Saturday morning in Mid-November, nearly 100 members of the Marymount community gathered to prepare and pack up more than 1000 lunches, complete with special greetings, and distributed them to shelters around the Los Angeles area. This successful sandwich-builders event was followed up by our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. By the end of the drive, executed in conjunction with A Place Called Home in South-Central Los Angeles, the Marymount community had collected more than 3500 items to be used to build Thanksgiving supply packages for 400 families in need.
