Marymount Club Fair Celebrates Sailors' Diverse Passions

Every year, Marymount students join together to celebrate their varied and vibrant interests through our student-run Annual Club Fair. From music and culture, to animal welfare, service, and world events, the Club Fair serves as a reminder of how wonderfully engaged and diverse our girls’ passions are. This year’s fair was no different – with Cantwell Lawn transforming into a lively festival marked by colorful hand-made club posters and student club leaders proudly inviting would-be members to each table.

Students moved enthusiastically from station-to-station, learning about the exciting possibilities of each club that piqued their interest. From the dedicated Harry Potter Club that convenes every week to read sections of the beloved series, to Cakes for Cancer, whose penchant for service can inspire all, to The Knitting Circle, whose beautiful 3D poster featured real knitting needles, there are endless opportunities for every Sailor.

At Marymount, being a member of student-run clubs serves not only as a rewarding and refreshing break from schoolwork and extracurricular activities, but also as a chance to get to know Sailor Sisters in different grades, to express oneself creatively, and to give back to the community. Club leaders set their own goals, schedule and agenda for the club, and students define their intentions for the club’s work throughout the year. Faculty Moderators attend club meetings as a source of support, providing teachers and students a great way to connect outside the classroom. The sense of leadership and confidence instilled in club leaders and participants cannot be overstated: building and maintaining a student group takes organization, strong communication skills, and most importantly, teamwork in a fun, unintimidating setting.

It is no surprise then that the annual Club Fair served as a celebration of student life on campus – a chance for students to connect with one another, and a reminder that the school year has only just begun, with many exciting events and opportunities ahead. One student’s parting exclamation as she left Cantwell lawn was “I think I signed up for too many clubs!
