Geometry: June 1 - July 2, 8:00am-12:00pm

This course develops critical thinking and visualization skills, presenting and exploring the properties of shapes in space. Some of the major topics covered are angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, triangles and congruence, quadrilaterals, similarity, right triangles, trigonometric ratios, circles, constructions, area, and volume. Concepts from Algebra 1 are integrated throughout this course. Construction tools such as a straightedge and a compass are required for this course. Students taking this class should be prepared for the intense pace of the course. One day of class in the summer program is considered to be equal to a week of classes during the school year. Students should also be prepared for two to three hours of homework each night.
A TI-Nspire CX calculator is required for this course. Students must have completed a full-year of Algebra I in order to be eligible to enroll in Geometry.

This course will earn a full year of academic credit and will enable a student to enter Algebra II/Trigonometry in the fall.  Because this is an accelerated course, in order to pass and receive credit for this class students are permitted no more than one absence. This course will be included on a student's Marymount transcript.

Current rising 10th grade Marymount students are invited to enroll in Geometry.
