Welcoming Back our Sailors for the 2019-20 School Year

On Monday, Aug. 19, Marymount welcomed our 369 students to campus for the first day of the 2019-20 school year.
This year, our community was thrilled to welcome our 83 newest set of freshmen Sailors joining Marymount from 35 elementary and middle schools that span over 33 zip codes. These young women joined their sisters from all grades at the year’s first Community assembly in Cantwell Hall.
After prayer, Head of School Jacqueline L. Landry welcomed new and returning students, and Associated Student Body (ASB) President Samantha J. ‘20 introduced new staff and faculty members, including math teacher Matthew Uy, religious studies teacher Theresa Thibodeau and Eireen Ty, drama teacher Corey Wexler, and technical director Evan Perrotta.
Each year, students derive a school-wide theme from one of the six pillars shared by our global network of Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RHSM) schools. This year, our school chose to focus on celebrating the pillar, to fulfill the RSHM Mission, “that all may have life and have it to the full.” Samantha proudly introduced this year's student theme, Seas the Day, taken from the community goal. Before the assembly concluded, our community was graced with a flash-mob brought to us by our Student Body Association. Dressed in neon, ASB made the entire auditorium laugh and cheer with excitement for the year ahead.
Marymount’s faculty and staff are so happy to have our students back on campus, and we are ready to dive into another year of friendship, sisterhood and academics in what we know will be an accomplished year.
