Varsity Water Polo – Oxnard Tournament – January 17-18, 2020

Varsity Water Polo traveled to Rio Mesa High School for the Oxnard Tournament. In the first game on Friday, the team faced Carpinteria HS and won 11-5. Emma C. had 8 blocks. Sophie W. had 4 goals, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Regan W. had 6 goals, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Shea T. who moved up from JV to play in the tournament, had her first varsity goals and a steal. 
 
 
In the second game the Sailors faced Oxnard and won 11-8. Emma C. had 7 blocks. Lizzie R. and Tenley G. both had goals. Tenley G. had 3 steals. Lilly F. had 2 goals and 3 steals. Sophie W. had 2 goals, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Regan W. had 5 goals, 4 assists, and 8 steals. 
 
On Saturday, the Sailors played very competitive games against tough teams and ended up just short in each match. Marymount lost to Notre Dame 12-6 in Game 3. Emma C. had 9 blocks, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Claire M. had 2 steals. Lizzie R. and Molly C. both had an assist. Sophie W. had 2 goals and 3 steals. Regan W. had 4 goals and 5 steals. 
 
In game 4 the Sailors had a very tight match against Westlake and lost by 1 goal, 8-7. Tenley G. had 3 goals, Lilly F. had 1 goal, Lizzie R. had 1 goal, and Sophie W. had 1 goal. 
 
The Sailors lost the 5th place game in sudden death overtime to Pali High School with a final score of 9-8, ending the tournament in 6th place overall.
