Lakota Sioux Tribe Member Visits Religious Studies Students

As part of the senior Religious Studies course “Introduction to World Religions”, students had a unique opportunity to hear first-hand experiences of traditional Lakota Sioux Tribe spiritual practices from guest speaker, SunRose Iron Shell from the Rose Bud and Pine Ridge Reservations of South Dakota.

SunRose, who was featured in the 2019 documentary, “Women of the White Buffalo” shared intricate personal reflections on the realities of life on the reservations. Students were eager to learn about her personal accounts and the history of the Lakota traditions.
