Athletics
Spend the summer on the beautiful campus of Marymount High School learning from the best coaches on the Westside.  Hone the necessary skills to take your game to the next level. Our Summer Athletic Programs are designed for female athletes grade 5th - 12th.  

Partial PE credit may be earned with a minimum of 10 hours of participation at any one camp. This credit may be applied to the pre-season conditioning requirement for a Fall sport.

Participation in any of the summer athletic programs does not guarantee a place on a Marymount Athletic Team. All students must try out each year to earn a place on any one of the teams.

    Tennis practice starts August 22nd.

    JV Tennis will practice at Marymount from 2:00pm – 4:00pm Tuesday through Friday. 

    Varsity will practice at Cheviot Hills from 4:00pm – 6:00pm Monday through Friday.
     
    Transportation will be arranged for varsity tennis students practicing at Cheviot Hills.  Varsity tennis players will not be back on campus in time for the late bus.

  • Marymount Athletics Tryout Policy

    Marymount High School Athletics Department 

    Tryout Policy
     
    A student-athlete must have a current physical (with no restrictions or limitations for contact sports) on file in the athletic office before being allowed to tryout for a team.
     
    Attendance at tryouts is mandatory until cuts are made. Cuts may be made after the first session.
     
    A student-athlete must try out every year to be considered for a position on a team. Only then would a student athlete be placed on a team roster.
     
    A student-athlete will be placed on the appropriate team level regardless of the level played in previous years.

    No position on any team is reserved or guaranteed prior to or after tryouts for a returning athlete, club athlete or senior.

    It is the responsibility of the coaches to select the most qualified and prepared athlete for the team.

    Marymount High School does not REQUIRE an athlete to play on an outside club team in order to be considered for a Marymount team.

    In order to be better prepared for the season, athletes are strongly encouraged to play in the off-season, by joining a club team, attending an Athletic PE class or by playing on another Marymount team during the preseason period.

    A student-athlete should be in peak performance condition, with no outstanding injuries, in preparation for tryouts.
     
    Note:  NO assumption should be made that any Marymount athlete who plays for an organization that rents any facility at Marymount will be given preferential treatment during the team selection process.

    This summer, Marymount will host three tennis camps for current students in an effort to accommodate multiple interests and ability levels. Marymount Varsity Tennis Coach, Andoni Gracia, and JV Tennis Coach Charles Hutchinson will lead the Sailors in fun and skill-building drills, game and strategy tactics for singles and doubles players.

    Beginner Tennis Camp
    This camp is designed to introduce new players to the program and to build on the high level of tennis that Marymount has established.  It will focus on stroke analysis, drills, conditioning, and team strategy.

    Advance/Intermediate Tennis Camp
    This camp is geared towards the returning Varsity & JV player who has at least 1-3 years’ experience of playing the sport. Fundamentals and teamwork will be emphasized, along with stroke mechanics and basic footwork drills.  The camp is focused on helping to build confidence and basic court awareness for the intermediate player.

    Elite Tennis Camp
    This camp is designed for the elite or ranked player who has 3+ years’ experience and plays in addition to the high school season.  Advanced footwork drills and shot selection will be a focal point of the camp. Campers will be expected to perform high-level point construction and tactical plays. Geared towards the more “competitive player” the Elite camp will push players to improve their court positioning, stroke mechanics, and mental game.

  • Fitness Camp

    OPEN TO ALL CURRENT MARYMOUNT STUDENTS
     
    A unique fitness experience designed to empower young women to find their inner strength through the use of physical activity; leading them to discover how strong, powerful and beautiful they are inside and out.
     
    Activities are dynamic, fun and innovative. Taught in a positive and encouraging environment.You will take a variety of fitness and wellness classes, learn how to develop healthy nutritional habits, navigate around a weight room, and implement your own personal workout program.
     
    Daily instruction will take place on Marymount’s campus utilizing all our athletic facilities for the convenience of our students.

    *For Marymount students, one week of Fitness Camp earns 25 hours of PE credit!
