On Monday, Aug. 27, Marymount welcomed our 380 students to campus for the first day of the 2018-19 school year.
On Monday, Aug. 27, Marymount welcomed our 380 students to campus for the first day of the 2018-19 school year.

This year, our community was thrilled to welcome our 84 newest set of freshmen Sailors joining Marymount from 32 elementary and middle schools that span over 65 zip codes. These young women joined their sisters from all grades at the year’s first Community assembly in Cantwell Hall.

After prayer, Head of School Jacqueline L. Landry welcomed new and returning students, and Associated Student Body (ASB) President Kate S. ’19 introduced new staff and faculty members, including math teacher Shawn Yang, religious studies teacher Genesis Arocho, social studies teacher Chris Baylor, athletics faculty members Danielle Robinson and Linda Liberman, performing arts teacher Alexa Constantine, and college counselor Sarah Miller. Jenny Hubbell will re-join the English Department.

Rebecca Bostic, Director of Spiritual Life and Religious Studies Department Chair, spoke about the 2018-19 community goal of Rising Together. Each year, students derive a school-wide theme from one of the six pillars shared by our global network of Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RHSM) schools. This year, our school chose to focus on celebrating the pillar, to encourage and affirm personal growth. To read more about our network of sister schools and the RSHM goals, please visit our website’s page dedicated to the RSHM network.

Marymount’s faculty and staff are so happy to have our students back on campus, and we are ready to dive into another year of friendship, sisterhood and academics in what we know will be an accomplished year.
