Congratulations to Marymount Class of 2019

On Friday, May 24, Marymount’s Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, families, friends and Sisters of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM), celebrated the accomplishments of the 83 women that make up the Class of 2019.

From writers, activists and athletes, to future politicians, statisticians and researchers, these newly-minted graduates join the ranks of over 4,000 Marymount alumnae as they matriculate this fall to over 51 colleges in 18 states and 5 countries.
As Commencement began, Bella Z. ’19 delivered the invocation prayer, thanking God for the gift of Sailor Sisterhood and asking for His blessing on the graduates’ new journeys.
“I pray we find lessons in the highs and lows of life, and that we treat ourselves with the same kindness we show to others, and which others have shown to us.,” Bella said. “God, please help us to stand up for what we believe in and remember the kind of women our parents and Marymount raised us to be.
Taking full advantage of the Class of 2019’s last moments together, Andriana MB. ‘19 addressed her Sailor Sisters with a heartfelt salute.“Over the last four years, we have found pride in our individual voices as well as one enthusiastic, united class. Without a doubt, we have left our mark on this community, just as this community has left its mark on us.”
Marymount’s graduation ceremony continued with the 2019 Commencement speaker Dr. Victoria Sork ‘69, Dean of the Life Sciences Divisions at UCLA, and a champion for women’s issues and innovative teaching and learning.  Dr. Sork commended the graduates’ intelligence, sense of justice, integrity, openness and courage.
Our Marymount community sincerely commends the Class of 2019 for their many accomplishments and their tremendous impact on our school. We are excited to see how you will make your mark in the years ahead!
