Malibu HS Team 2 – Game 1

The Sailors started off the day with a 6:30am morning ocean swim and a breakfast cooked by Coach Perry. Malibu had 2 teams in the tournament and for the first game the Sailors faced Malibu 2. Strong serves were followed up with perfect passing from the setters. End results kills and aces. Marymount had 12 kills in the first game. Carly W. and Melina A. each had 2 kills down the line. Middles, Reagan F., Gianna W. and Chloe M. hit strong shots to the deep corners of the court as well as smart tips that Malibu had difficulties returning.

Brooke B. had 7 aces and 5 kills. Libero’s Lexi T. and Sophia S. both passed amazing and served with power. Setters Ceci B. and Quincy W. controlled the ball which enabled the hitters to get a combined 15 kills in game 2. Sailors win 25-5, 25-7.

Lakewood – Game 2

Sailors came in strong and played on momentum going in to Game 2 against Lakewood. Quincy W. fed Brooke B. perfect sets for 5 kill shots. Sophia S. came off the bench serving hard. Quincy W. delivered the opposition hard top spinning serves. Melina A. took control of the back row finishing strong with the win. 25-14, 25-16

South Pasadena – Game 3

South Pasadena came into the match pumped up and ready to face the Sailors. But the Sailors brought their own fire to the match. Strong passing continued with the accuracy of Ceci B. and Quincy W. Brooke B. was unrelenting with her kills down the line. Carly W. and Katie C. contributed with their own kills shots right down the line and angled perfectly out of reach from South Pasadena. Ceci B. and Reagan F. connected for 3 kills in a row. Game 2 was ruled by aces. Sophia S. 4 aces, Ceci B. 3 aces, Brooke B., Lexi T. and Katie C. with 2 each. Sailors win 25-14, 25-9.

Harvard Westlake – Game 4

Lexi T. started off the match setting perfectly. Quincy W. was persistent with her top spinning serve. Katie C.’s was successful tipping the ball over the block. Ceci B. set the middle, helping Gianna W. get kills. Sailors win. 25-13, 25-16

Chaminade – Game 5

As the Sailors continued to stay undefeated in pool play, they were even more determined than ever not to lose especially with the tournament Championship in sight. The hitters were even more aggressive and the blockers were unstoppable. Carly W. and Katie C. each had 4 cross court kills. Reagan F. and Gianna W. controlled the front. Almost every one of the Sailors serves was in an unreachable sweet spot. Sailors win 25-14, and 25-16.

Malibu 1 – Game 6

In the Final game of the Tournament, the Sailors knew the Championship was theirs. All they had to do was win against Malibu 1 in front of their home crowd. They were unstoppable. Quincy W. started the game off with 3 aces in a row. Strong cross court hits by Carly W. and Brooke B. killing it down the line, added by Chloe M. and Gianna W.’s hard hitting swings there was no way the Sailors were going to lose. Towards the end of the game Ceci B. came in and served 5 aces, but it was Quincy W. who started the game off with serving aces, ending the game with a front row kill. The final score was 25-5. Sailors are the Champions with Carly W. and Lexi T. being named on the All-Tournament team and Brooke B. named the MVP.
