FR/Soph Volleyball Redondo Tournament – 9.14.19

Marlborough 1 – Game 1

The Sailors were ready for the challenge of being a Freshman team playing in the JV Redondo Tournament. Marymount came out strong facing Marlborough’s JV team. Carly W. was on fire with 3 cross court kills. Brooke B. had 3 kills down the line. Katie C. played great defense with awesome passes from Lexi T. in the serve receive position. Game 2 the Sailors were serving aces. Lexi T. Sophia S. Brooke B. and Reagan F. all had at least one ace against the Mustangs. Lexi T. and Sophia S. continued their perfect passing setting up Reagan F., Gianna W., Katie C. and Melina A. who all had cross court kills. Final score 25-10, 25-12.

St. Lucy – Game 2

Lexi T. started off the game with precision passing leading to an explosive offense. Full of power Brooke B. and Reagan F. each had 3 aces, hitting the corners and making it difficult to return their serves. Ceci B. and Quincy W. put up great sets for Chloe M., Katie C. and Melina A. for the kills. In game 2 the Sailors continued to put on the heat. Brooke B. had 2 aces and Sophia B. had 1. Gianna W. had 2 kills, Melina A. and Angela D. each had a kill down the line. Sailors win 25-15, 25-10.

West Torrance – Game 3

The Sailors continued to stay motivated and determined with the goal of making it to the finals. The confidence and power displayed on offense and defense was unstoppable. Kills and aces were the focus of game 3. Gianna W., Reagan F., Chloe M., Carly W. Katie C. and Melina A. all had cross court kills. Melina A., Reagan F., and Lexi T. all had service aces. Ceci B. and Quincy W. had some remarkable dig saves. Sailors come out ahead with the win, 25-14, 25-13.

South Torrance – Game 4

The Sailors head in to their first playoff game coming in undefeated and facing South Torrance High School on their home court. The Spartans had strong servers and hard hitters. Marymount held their own with Lexi T. setting the ball and Ceci B. and Quincy W. making strong passes. Brooke B. and Katie C. had some nice kills. Melina A. and Gianna W. blocked a couple of hits. South Torrance continued to power the ball. In the end playing only one game in the playoffs was too much for the team. They lost 20-25. Overall it was a successful tournament for the Freshman. Playing and winning against some very tough JV teams.
