FR/Soph Volleyball South Torrance Tournament – 10.5.19

Game 1 vs West Torrance

Freshmen Sailors started off the all day Tournament strong and on fire. Lexi T. had 9 aces serving Marymount to a score of 17-3 in the 1^st game. Brooke B. had 3 kills down the line and 1 cross court kill. Katie C. had 2 kills down the line and 1 cross court kill. Lexi T. set Ceci B. and Quincy P. with great passes and the hitters, Melina A. Angela D. and Chloe M. were able to attack with power and strength. Marymount wins 25-10, 25-8.

Game 2 vs Brentwood

In a fast match vs Brentwood, the Sailors knew they had to stay focused. Katie C. had 6 aces. Carly W. and Melina A. had ace serves as well. Everyone on the team had at least 1 kill. The middles, Reagan F., Gianna W. Carly W. and Quincy W. were spot on with their power swings. Great game for the whole team offensively and defensively. Sailors won 25-7, 25-5.

Game 3 vs Peninsula

Coming off of a big win, the Sailors were ready for their game against Peninsula. Brooke B. and Katie C. continued to smash balls down the line and cross court. Lexi T. had 2 aces. Quincy W. and Ceci B. stayed consistent with their perfect sets which led to Melina A., Chloe M., Reagan F., and Carly W.’s great swings. Gianna W. had some big blocks. All leading to the 25-18, 25-9 win.

Game 4 vs SAMO

Starting off Game 4, the Sailors were prepared for what they thought was going to be their toughest game of pool play. Brooke B. and Katie C. continued their dominance in cross court and down the line shots. During the tournament they averaged 5 kills a game. Lexi T. and Katie C. each had an ace. Quincy W. and Ceci. B. set the middles Gianna W. and Reagan F. with perfection. With Carly W. as opposite and Angela D. and Melina A on the outside, the Sailors were unstoppable. Sailors win 25-18, 25-13 and finish first in their pool bracket.

Game 5 vs Redondo

After a long day of pool play the Sailors had a short break to get ready for play offs. Marymount knew they had a tough game to win. Redondo pulled out ahead, but with determination and focus Lexi T. was able to tie the game. Quincy W. set well and Brooke B. had 2 kills down the line. Gianna W., Reagan F., Melina A., Carly W. and Katie C. all had kills. In the end the Sailors lost a tough single elimination game 23-25. It was a great day overall. The team took home 3^rd place and Gianna W. received All Tournament honors. Congratulations Sailors!
