JV Volleyball Lakewood Tournament – 10.5.19

Game 1 vs St. Paul

The Sailors had one goal for the Lakewood Tournament, to win it all. Nicole M. led the team with a serving run. Coco K. and Alana B. both were swinging the ball with precision placement on the court. Dior C. blocked consistently. Catherine M.’s swings from the middle and aces were huge. Mary W., Amelie L. and Keili K. had some key sets as well as a strong defense. Emma S. had some great roll shots and Julia C. was successful with her overpass kill. Sailors win 25-15, 25-8.

Game 2 vs St. Matthias

Keili K. continued the Sailors dominate serving streak against St. Matthias with a 5 point service run. Catherine M. placed hits that the Warriors could not defend. Coco K. had 6 kills. Emma S. had perfect passes. Alana B. was successful with down the line hits. Sailors win 25-7, 25-10.

Game 3 vs Valley Christian

The Sailors played a fast match against Valley Christian with perfect serving from Amelie L. and Keili K. Julia C. and Emma S. had great digs and swings. Alana B. and Coco K. killed it on the right side. Dior C. and Catherine M. killed and blocked the balls with domination. Sailors win 25-4, 25-8.

Game 5 vs Harvard Westlake

Marymount met a familiar team in Game 5, Harvard Westlake’s Wolverine’s. The Sailors continued the match with serving dominance with a 7-0 start. Setter Amelie L. started off the match with 5 aces. The middles Catherine M. and Dior C. were pounding balls down. Emma S. and Julia C. killed the ball down the line. The Sailors win 25-11.

Game 6 vs Long Beach Wilson

In the Quarter Finals the Sailors played against the Tournament Hosts, Long Beach Wilson. Setters Amelie L. and Keili K. set well and made smart plays. Julia C. had some key defensive shots. Emma S. continued to have some hard kills. Dior C. shut down the other side with her blocks. Catherine M. swung hard from the middle. Nicole M.’s had amazing serve receives and digs. Sailors win 25-16.

Game 7 vs Lon Beach Poly

The Sailors headed in to the Semi Finals game against Long Beach Poly. Marymount faced the Jackrabbits for the first game of the 2019 season and won in 2 games. The team came out strong with Keili K. starting off a serving run. Amelie L. and Alana B. swung hard from the right side. Julia C. and Coco K. were strong on the 4. The Sailors won 25-20 and head into the finals.

Game 8 vs Vista Murrieta

The Sailors needed all the energy and momentum they had to take them into the finals against Vista Murrieta to win the Lakewood Championship Tournament. Keili K. played great defense. Amelie L. had some key shots from the right side. Coco K. and Julie C. passed well and set Nicole M. perfect. Dior C. and Catherine M. dominated the middle as they have throughout the Tournament. Marymount fought hard in the back and forth game and won 25-23. Congratulations to Amelie L. for winning the tournament MVP and the Sailors for winning the Tournament.
