A Message From Marymount High School in Support of our Asian American/Pacific Islander Communities

We write today in profound sadness to express our support and solidarity with all members of Asian, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, following recent terrible acts of violence against Asian, Black, Indigenous, and all people of color across our nation, including the brutal killings of eight people in Atlanta on March 16.

We are deeply troubled by these attacks and by any violence based on race, ethnicity, or gender and we acknowledge the injustices experienced by the AAPI community throughout our nation, which have escalated this year during the pandemic. These acts are unconscionable and run counter to our mission of supporting a diverse and inclusive community, in which we respect and affirm our differences and condemn violence.

In an email sent to current Marymount families on Monday, March 22, 2021, our Senior Administration expressed the school’s steadfast support for our AAPI communities.

The prevalence of the escalating anti-Asian crimes across our nation requires that we work individually and collectively to become architects of peace and anti-bias in the world. As a Marymount community committed to equity and justice, we remain committed to our RSHM Mission that “all may have life and have it to the full,” and we denounce the hate and violence against members of the AAPI communities that have so dramatically increased over the course of this past year. Marymount stands in solidarity with our AAPI community as we commit our support to ending violence, prejudice, and discrimination in all forms.
