A Standing Ovation For Marymount Players’ Fall Production, “Trunk Show, Packed With One-Act Plays!”

This weekend, the Marymount Players’ Fall Production, “Trunk Show: Packed with One Act Plays!” came to life through the incredible talent and hard work of the over 30 students involved. From the actors to the stage crew and to the set designers, each member of the Marymount Players joined together to produce this playful, somber, and nonsensical creative feat.

Trunk Show opened in a whirlwind with performances from Friday through Sunday. The one-act scenes ranged from one to five minutes, and the actors were tasked with playing a variety of diverse, eclectic roles throughout the production, with all their props out of a trunk. Curated and directed by Claire Hackett, Marymount’s Theater Director and the mastermind behind this incredible production, Trunk Show featured pieces from renowned playwrights such as Ferenc Molnar, Gertrude Stein, Harold Pinter and Michael Frayn. With this wide range of source material, the show touched on the humorous, the surreal, the emotional, and the just plain strange.

More than thirty students from all four grades were actively involved in bringing the play to life; since September, they have been working hard rehearsing, building, painting, photographing and organizing the production. Their efforts have undoubtedly paid off, as the final performance displayed an abundance of creativity, talent, and planning.
