Senior Spotlight Series with Yurika B. ‘17

Our Seniors are spending these last days of school both reflecting on their Marymount experience, and also growing excited for their next adventures. In our “Senior Spotlight” series, we catch up with a few of our Seniors to find out how they are feeling as they wrap up their high school experience and look back on their four years here at Marymount. Read what Yurika B. ’17, our first Sailor featured in our Senior Spotlight series, has to say.

(MHS) How are you feeling as you approach Graduation and finish up your Marymount Experience?

(YB) I remember being a freshman and thinking I had all the time in the world before graduating, but it came so fast. As I finish up at Marymount, I realize all the amazing opportunities I have been given here and I am surely going to miss it.

What’s next for you after Marymount? Any plans for the summer before you embark on your next adventure?

After I graduate from Marymount, I will be attending Yale University to pursue my interest in science and continue to play my favorite sport, volleyball, for the next four years! This summer I am working at a chiropractic office, but, of course, I also plan on treasuring the summer with my family and friends.

Reflecting back on your time here, what has been a favorite Marymount memory for you?

One of my favorite memories was Junior Retreat; our class really bonded and we all had a blast.

What activities, sports and/or classes have been most meaningful and impactful for you throughout your four years? Are you planning to pursue any of these in College?

Two aspects that have really been impactful for me are volleyball and Honor Council. Participation in volleyball has really aided in my development into a stronger mental, physical, and emotional individual. I hope to carry the things I’ve learned with me as I play volleyball at Yale University.

How has your overall experience at Marymount impacted you as a person?

My experience at Marymount has undoubtedly helped me develop into a stronger, more confident individual; the skills I’ve learned here will be crucial in the future, as I make my way to college and aim to make a difference in this world.

What advice do you have rising seniors for getting the most out of their senior year at Marymount? What can our younger students and incoming freshmen expect as they embark on their Marymount journey?

For rising seniors, this is your last Father-Daughter Dance, your last Retreat, your last everything. Make these memories count and really appreciate your time here. For younger students, know that time goes by fast and you’ll be graduating in the blink of an eye! Any new freshman can expect four years of great laughs and fun, but also a challenging academic environment that pushes you to reach your highest potential.
