Entering the Holiday Season

As November comes to a close and our holiday season begins, Marymount is full of gratitude during this time of joy, peace and prosperity.
One of the many things for which we are most grateful and truly honor during this Christmas season is family. Part of what makes the Marymount experience so unique and impactful are the tight bonds our girls develop to form a sincere and tight-knit community of Sailor Sisters that lasts a lifetime.

We are thankful for the many ways we celebrate both our communal family as well as our nuclear family with beloved, annual traditions and merry excitement about events that celebrate this season:

  • Grandparents Day: Just before Thanksgiving, 230 grandmothers and grandfathers joined their granddaughter(s) on campus for our annual Grandparents Day. The day began with a celebratory mass followed by a luncheon. We were so moved to see our Sailors greet their grandparents with love, hugs, smiles and, most of all, gratitude.

  • Thanksgiving Food Drive: Our students embrace our core values of generosity, compassion and service – and that spirit was in full force throughout November. During this year’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, students, their families and faculty and staff donated over 11,000 food items to A Place Called Home (APCH). Together with APCH, our Marymount community helped over 300 families celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday!

  • Father-Daughter Dinner Dance: On Saturday, Dec. 2, our girls will celebrate the holiday season with their fathers at one of the most joyous events of the school year: Marymount’s Father Daughter Dinner Dance. This special event celebrates the special bond that a daughter has with her father in a spirited setting.

  • Campus Decorating Contest: During the first week of December, our entire school community will take part in Marymount’s first-ever Door Decorating Contest! With this year’s introduction of student “Crews” and faculty “Captains,” students and faculty will work together to decorate their faculty captain’s doors using creativity, STEAM themes, originality and, of course, Marymount spirit.

  • Feast of the Immaculate Conception: On Friday, Dec. 8, our Marymount community will celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which honors Mary’s conception free from original sin. It an especially blessed day for Marymount, where we carry on our Founders’ and the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary’s (RSHM) traditions and values of social justice and service

  • Winter Concert & Visual Arts Showcase Arts: On Wednesday, Dec.13, our Sailors will show off their artistic talents at our annual Winter Concert & Arts Showcase. The Visual Arts Department will display artwork including drawings, paintings, graphic design, collage, printmaking, photography and more in Butler Hall. Following the showcase, the Performing Arts department will feature instrumental and choral music, dance and theater.
