Spiritual Life at Marymount
Marymount was founded in 1923 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM) to be the premier all-girls Catholic school in the West. More than 90 years later, Marymount stands as a living example of the RSHM mission and a testament to the vision of our founders.
The expansive and inclusive nature of our RSHM heritage permeates all areas of Marymount life and is founded on the principle that every girl, no matter her background, deserves a quality education. We believe in fostering and embracing spirituality in each student, however she may define it for herself. The richness that a spiritual education provides in shaping thoughtful leaders with a responsibility to the common good, teaches our students religious literacy and mindfulness in a world where faith can divide.
