List of 1 items.

  • What happens during BrainSPORT Testing?

All students athletes must take a baseline concussion test during both their Freshman and Junior Years. All freshmen (regardless of their athlete status) have the opportunity to take this test, since they may choose to pursue sports while at Marymount.

The BrainSPORT Concussion Test is administered at the beginning of the school year. It measures:
    • Reaction Time
    • Balancing Ability
    • Memory Capacity
    • Speed of Mental Processing
    • Executive Functioning of the brain
The Pre-Season Baseline Test result are used as a diagnosis tool to determine if head trauma has occurred. Doctors then use the test result by comparing post-injury results.

Physical and Athletic Forms

All students participating in Marymount athletics or conditioning classes must complete a pre-season sports physical, a parent permission form, an athletic trainer treatment release form, and CIF concussion information form before they can partake in any Marymount athletic activity, including tryouts and regular practice.

Students enrolled in Physical Education classes, Dance and/or Self-Defense must submit a current pre-season sports physical.
