Ms. O’Connell has been in the field of higher education and college counseling for over three decades. She worked for sixteen years in the Admission Office at McDaniel College in Maryland where she was promoted to Dean of Admission and subsequently to the Vice President for Enrollment. Following this, Ms. O’Connell served as the Executive Director of Colleges That Change Lives (CTCL) for seven years.
Through this dynamic role, she became a nationally recognized spokesperson for the student-centered college admission process and was published in the The New York Times, educational journals such as “Go Teach,” and on the National Public Radio website.
Additionally, she served as an international spokesperson for the Department of State addressing the value of a liberal arts education in the United States.She most recently served as the Senior College Counselor at Garrison Forest School, an all-girls K-12 school located in Owings Mills, MD outside of Baltimore.
