Tuan's background in volleyball was limited due to the fact that his high school did not have a boys' team. Instead, he wrestled in high school and was captain of the team for 2 years, he qualified for CIF, was League Champion twice and placed 6th in CIF his senior year. Whenever he wasn't wrestling, he was helping the Girls Volleyball Team as a manager and eventually assistant coach. He graduated from UCLA with a double major in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. With a desire to play volleyball at the college level, he attended Santa Monica College for one year and played on the Men's Volleyball Team. Tuan is currently trying to expand his software development company, of which he is a co-founder, and is coaching at Sunshine Volleyball Club.

Heather Lowe has been a beach volleyball coach since 2005 in addition to playing professionally from 2000-12. She also has played professional indoor volleyball for Switzerland in 1998. Lowe attended Oregon State University where she earned Pac-10 honors and broke school records in attacks. As a high school standout, she played for Ichiban Volleyball Club and won three gold medals and one silver medal at the Junior Olympics. Lowe has als won the acclaimed Manhattan Beach Open Tournament.
