Annual Grandparents Day Kicks-Off Our Season of Gratitude

Thanksgiving came early to Marymount on Tuesday, Nov. 20, as over 200 family members and friends joined our community for our annual Grandparents Day celebration.
Sailors greeted their grandparents as they arrived and escorted them for a Mass of Thanksgiving said by University of California Los Angeles’ (UCLA) Paulist Fr. Mark Villano. Fr. Villano noted that with gratitude comes happiness, and that happiness is the purest form of love. He asked the community to search deep during this season of thanks and look inward to find peace and grace.
With performances by Marymount's choir and orchestra, those in attendance sang along to John Newton’s Amazing Grace and Henry van Dyke's The Hymn of Joy (often called "Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee").
In her closing remarks following Mass, Head of School Jacqueline L. Landry both welcomed and thanked our grandparents, family members, and friends for their presence in our students’ lives.
“Welcome to Marymount where things are eternal and embedded in love,” said Ms. Landry, who noted that she is giving thanks for the joy in learning every day.
Together with their grandparents, students escorted their family members throughout campus to enjoy a peaceful lunch with their loved ones. To see additional photos of the event, please visit Marymount’s Facebook page.
