Marymount Senior Qualifies as a National Merit Semifinalist

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. (NMSC) named Marymount senior Sarah Fry as a National Merit Semifinalist based on her PSAT scores, which puts her in the top one percent of all U.S. high school seniors across the country who took the test.
Named to Marymount’s Head’s List since her freshman year, Sarah personifies Marymount’s ideals and spirit: she is confident, ethical, and an advocate for social justice. Sarah is the school’s ASB Communications Chair and a member of the National Honor Society, and she sits on the Teen Advisory Board of the Skechers Pier-to-Pier Friendship Walk.

In addition to volunteering at other service organizations, Sarah tutors at Marymount’s Writing Center and reports for Marymount’s Spanish-language newspaper, Pan Dulce. She is an accomplished rower on the MAC Rowing team and a singer in the High C’s, our acapella choir. And, after what she calls, “a life-changing experience studying astrophysics at COSMOS UC Davis” during the summer of her Junior year, Sarah founded Marymount’s first-ever Astronomy Club.

Sarah is among 16,000 other semifinalists who will compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that NMSC will offer next spring.
