JV Soccer End of Season – 2018-19

This season the JV Soccer team came a long way in such a short amount time. Sixteen players signed up and from day one practiced as one team to improve, learn the game and have fun. One of the most outstanding aspects of this team was the camaraderie between those who were experienced soccer players helping their teammates who were new to the sport. In turn those once novice girls became accomplished and confident both on the field during practice and during the game. During each game, every player’s quality of play rose to the point when they could stand toe to toe with stronger soccer programs in order to give them a tough match.

There were two notable team highlights this season. One was against El Segundo in the South Torrance Tournament, when only 10 players showed up. The Sailors didn’t let that get in their way and they played to a 1-1 tie. The second highlight of the season was in the pouring rain when the Sailors earned a late, come from behind 4-3 victory over Chaminade. It was another example of pure dedication and determination. The Sailors showed a lot of heart and great fight while constantly improving their skills. Coach Gary said, “the biggest compliment I can pay the team as their Coach was that they were always hardworking humble and happy on the field and I am truly looking forward to another ever improving 2019/20 Season”. Congratulations Sailors.
