JV Volleyball Malibu Shark Attack Tournament Champions– 9.7.19

Brentwood – Game 1
 
Marymount had only one goal, to win the tournament. The Sailors started off strong with Amelie L. serving 4 straight aces. Paige P. lead the outside hitters with 6 kills. Nicole M. played libero and passed spot on. Coco K. had 4 kills and kept the fire going with her energy and spirit. Mary W. had 2 aces. Alana B. had 4 kills. Maren P. came off the bench as the teams serving specialist to help cement the win. Marymount wins, 25-14, 25-15
 
 
Malibu 1 – Game 2
 
The Sailors were pumped up and ready to play Malibu 1. Julia C. and Coco K. had an outstanding game playing the outside hitter position. Julia C. had 5 kills and Coco K. had 4 kills. Keili K. set well. Amelie L. played the right back and didn’t let any balls hit the floor. Nicole M. had a great serve receive. Sailors win 25-7, 25-10.
 
Chaminade – Game 3
 
The Sailors match against Chaminade was a competitive match with the scores going back and forth. Nicole M. had 4 incredible digs to bring the team ahead for the 25-16 in game 1. Game 2 was even closer. Great defensive play from Paige P. Amelie L. and Mary W. who were able to set up the hitters for kills. Emma S. continued to hit hard to fend off Chaminade with a 25-19 win.
 
Lakewood – Game 4
 
The Sailors had another tough match against Lakewood. This was their second time playing against the Lancers who they previously played 2 days earlier. Paige P. had 5 kills. Maren P. led the team in passes with 3 perfect serve-receive passes and 4 digs. Mary W. had 2 aces. After a tough game 1, Lakewood’s offense stepped up in game 2. However, that only fired up the Sailors defense. Julia C. had 6 kills and Dior C. became a wall with her monstrous blocks. Nicole M., Keili K. and Amelie L. on the offense kept up the fire with tough serves and sets. Marymount wins 25-19, 25-20.
 
Malibu 2 – Game 5
 
Coming from such a high level game against Lakewood, the Sailors were hoping their match against Malibu 2 would not be as intense. Game 1 started off with a huge lead for Marymount but they knew they couldn’t let their guard down and needed to stay focused. Dior C. continued to be a blocking wall and a force. Keili K.’s and Mary W.’s sets were precision passes allowing the hitters to attack and kill the ball perfectly. Nicole M. chased the ball all over the court which led to some pretty impressive digs. Final Score 25-7, 25-4.
 
South Pasadena – Game 6
 
The final game of pool play and the Sailors had their sights on bringing home the Championship trophy for the Malibu Shark Attack Tournament. The first game Marymount started off sluggish but had to pick themselves up and focus on their goal of staying undefeated and winning it all. Paige P. continued to kill the ball. Dior C. had 2 kills and blocked at her consistent high level. The first game ended with a kill. South Pasadena was not ready to go home. They were no match for the Sailors who won the Championship game of for the tournament with a final score of 25-11, 25-16. All Tournament honors go to Dior C. and Julia. C. Paige P. was named Tournament MVP. Congratulations JV!
